A little context so this compliment carries weight - I was Diageo’s on-premise activation specialist for their premium spirits portfolio. It was my job to support the development of the luxury cocktails the best bartenders in Canada were putting on their menus.
Over the hundreds of bars with $30+ cocktails I’ve been exposed to in my career, I have developed a sort of mental shortlist of things I expect to see in the best bars in the world. Handshake Speakeasy checked every single box.
I especially appreciated the mini size drinks. As a liquor rep, that shows me the bar has intelligent management as those are a best practice to increase ticket size. As a customer, I appreciated the convenience of the small size to increase the number of drinks we could sample in our visit, without being over served.
I have it in my personal top 3 favourite bars in the world, along with Paradiso in Barcelona and Bar Chef in Toronto. I recommend it to anyone I know visiting Mexico City.
